Hundred Dollar Bill

Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain . . .

Acts 12:1-12

Three ambitious young men with hearts for the Lord set out one summer on a youth evangelism tour. Two days into the summerlong journey, they arrived at a small church where they would hold their first youth rally. Afterward, they began planning for the rest of the summer when suddenly, reality set in. The balance in their bank account was $16, and they still had three full months of ministry lined up. Standing in the pastor's office of that small church and unsure of what to do, they resolved to call a large donor in their church for help, but stopped short of making the call when they felt directed to pray about their predicament. They had barely finished praying when the pastor walked in and handed them a hundred dollar bill. It wasn't a lot, but it was enough to sustain them until they reached their next destination where they were confident God would continue to provide for their needs.

Those three young men reached hundreds of lives for Christ that summer, but their own lives were forever impacted by the lesson they learned—that God's power is released through prayer.

The angel fetched Peter out of prison, but it was prayer that fetched the angel.
