All that you command us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go.

Whatever, wherever!
Joshua 1:16-18
That's the cry of the servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, the one who understands that we are His servants, living under His authority here on earth at His pleasure for the fulfilling of His will.
In offering prayers of commitment and surrender, it's a good idea to scan the hymnbook. Music emotionalizes our prayers, and some of the godly poets of yesteryear knew more about the yielded life than we do. When was the last time we prayed, "Have Thine own way, Lord, have Thine own way. Thou art the potter, I am the clay"? Or "I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice"?
Can we honestly sing, "Jesus, I my cross have taken, all to leave and follow Thee"? What about the old chorus, "I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back, no turning back"?
The old hymnists understood that in the Christian life, surrender brings victory; and how wonderful to tell the Lord, "Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee."
Why not dig out an old hymnal and sing afresh, "All to Jesus I surrender . . . I surrender all."
I'll follow my Christ who loves me so, wherever He leads I'll go.
