Father, I pray that each person reading this will be especially blessed by You today. If that person is hurting, please guide him or her through that hurt into Your Healing, Dear Lord. In Christ Jesus...Amen
Dear Friend,
A very gifted gentleman taught our lesson at Celebrate Recovery at church last night. He shared a bit of his struggles with us: how during the lowest point of his battle with depression two years ago, he had jumped from a two-story window to end his life. God spared his life because he had more planned for this brother in Christ to do on this earth. And the gentleman now regards his depression as a gift.
Anything that brings you close to God is not necessarily all bad.
In the last couple of years, this gentleman has stepped up to become one of the leaders at Celebrate Recovery, and, as a result of the healing he has found in the program, he has become a great blessing to us all.
We have a saying in our recovery group: God never wastes a hurt.
In having listened to some of the testimonies of our brothers and sisters in recovery, it is obvious that some pretty horrible things have been done to them: either by an abusive spouse or relative, or things they have done to themselves through their own destructive behavior.
BUT, the Good News is that God can take the most horrible things that we have suffered through, and use them for good.
Consider the following verse:
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.“ Romans 8:28
God never promised us a life without storms, but He DID promise to stay close beside us in the MIDST of the storms.
With something to think about...
In HIM,
Delores
