THANKFUL FOR JESUS

Wednesday, November 21, 2007 (Thanksgiving Eve !!)

Father, this prayer is for a special Thanksgiving for all those who read it. In Christ Jesus...Amen.

In researching scripture on the internet for today's blog entry, I came across one hundred three references in the Bible that pertain to giving thanks. The one that my eyes fell upon almost immediately was this verse:

"O give thanks unto the LORD, for He is good; for His mercy endureth for ever.
1 Chronicles 16:34

Giving thanks for God's blessings goes back to the earliest days in the history of the Jewish people. And, from what I have gathered, Jesus gave thanks before every single meal (look back at the scriptures about the loaves and the fishes and also the Last Supper, among several other examples).

With all these references in scripture to giving thanks, it's pretty clear that God intends for us to be grateful for His many blessings—His DAILY blessings!!

Then, there is the greatest blessing of all.

His Son.

During His brief time on earth, Jesus showed us how to live and how to serve. Then, He paid the penalty for our sins.

This Thanksgiving, as the turkey is in its long-awaited final stages of sage-laden roasting, I'm thankful for family, friends, health, and God's abundant Provision.

Above all, however, I'm thankful that Jesus did for me what I could not do for myself.....

.....He covered my sins with His Righteousness.

Have a Wonderfully Blessed Thanksgiving,
Delores
