A Way to the Manger: Whoever Believes in Him

[Whoever] believes in
Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living
water

We
live in a cynical age—and not altogether without reason. We have learned not to
trust anyone who says, "Whoever wants to be rich/healthy/popular/successful,
just step right up." We get promises in our email every day that guarantee us
the world. An entire software industry has grown up to keep our computers free
of these come-ons. It's a shame that we've been trained not to believe. What if
one of those "whoever will" offers turned out to be true?

It so happens that one of
them is. Jesus Christ came to earth to offer "whoever will" the opportunity to
be reunited with our Creator. "What's the catch?" cynics ask. Technically, there
are a few. We have to be willing to have our sins forgiven, be filled with new
power and purpose for living, and be willing to spend eternity in the glorious
kingdom of heaven. Granted, that might be too high a price for some to pay; but
for others, it's an offer too amazing not to accept.

You are one of God's
"whoevers." Jesus' invitation has stood for 2,000 years, but you only have your
lifetime in which to accept it. Don't let the false offers keep you from
accepting the true one.

The Gospel is of
no profit except it be believed
