Trust Jesus

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.
Hebrews 12:2 (NIV)

Hebrews 12:1-3

Recently Renee McGowan broke her foot. She was expecting a child at the time, and travel became more difficult. But just then it became necessary for her to make an extended road trip to care for family and property. Her mother was unwell, and Renee faced some difficult choices. Rolling down the highway, she found herself consumed with worry; but just then she saw a phrase someone had written by running their finger through the dirt and dust on the back of a large truck. It said simply: "Trust Jesus!"

She felt it was a message for her, and her mind went to a little John W. Peterson song she had known years ago: "Why worry when you can pray? Trust Jesus, He'll be your stay!"

The Bible says that God will keep us in perfect peace when our minds are stayed on Him (Isaiah 26:3). The difference between faith and failure is focus, and the difference between worry and worship is trust.

Why worry when we can pray?

Don't be a doubting Thomas; trust fully in His promise. Why worry, worry, worry, worry, when you can pray?
John W. Peterson
