Eternity in Our Hearts

He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts.

Barbara Walters once hosted a two-hour television documentary on the subject of heaven. She discovered while researching the story that most people on this planet, regardless of their religious persuasion, do not think that life on earth ends here. We do not believe that this is all there is. In America, for example, nine out of ten people believe that heaven is a real place.

The Bible teaches that God has placed eternity in our hearts; we're made to live forever, and we instinctively know that there's more life than our threescore-and-ten. How wonderful to study the subject of heaven in the Bible and learn more about the eternal home for God's children. Revelation 21 and 22 is a virtual travel guide for the new heavens, the new earth, and the New Jerusalem.

Our passport, however, is all important--knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. He said in John 11:25-26: "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die."

It does not seem difficult to think that the description of the heavenly city with gates and a wall and foundations is a description of something that is literal and real.
