Follow Me

Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.

In his book, The Fifth Discipline, Peter Senge wrote, "Most of the outstanding leaders I have worked with are neither tall nor especially handsome; they are often mediocre public speakers; they do not stand out in a crowd; they do not mesmerize an attending audience with their brilliance or eloquence. Rather, what distinguishes them is their clarity and the persuasiveness of their ideas, the depth of their commitment, and their openness to continually learning more."

Not many of us are tall and handsome orators who project a JFK-like persona of Camelot. But we can all influence others, and we can influence others for Christ. Leadership requires responsibility; and whether we're young or old, our lives need to be living examples for others to follow.

What about your habits? Your words? Your attitude? Your disciplines? Your priorities? Your personal standards? We never know who is watching us, and only in eternity will we know the full extent of our spoken and unspoken influence.

How wonderful to say as Paul did: You follow me as I follow Christ!

Spiritual leadership is moving people on to God's agenda.
